1997 — M. Jiju Silk Mills
Our story starts with M. Jiju Silk Mills, established in 1997 in Bengaluru, India. Over the years, the business has worked across silk yarns, silk fabrics, silk raw materials and related products, serving customers in India and international markets.
The foundation was built on practical knowledge of silk — its fibres, yarns, processing, dyeing, finishing and the craftsmanship required to turn a natural material into something beautiful and useful. For Knitsilk, this experience remains at the heart of everything we do.
From Silk Manufacturing to the Maker Community
Silk has traditionally moved through manufacturing, wholesale and textile supply chains. Knitsilk extends that journey to the people who create with it.
Our goal is to make silk accessible not only to large manufacturers, but also to individual makers, knitters, crocheters, designers, artists, studios, yarn shops and creative businesses.
That means presenting silk in forms that inspire creativity — from yarns and fibres to ribbons, recycled sari silk and specially developed craft materials.
The result is a bridge between Indian silk craftsmanship and the global maker community.
The KnitSilk Story
Knitsilk was developed from a belief that beautiful materials should be available to people who want to create with them.
The brand's story is rooted in a father-and-daughter vision: combining years of silk and import-export experience with modern business and creative thinking, while creating opportunities around handmade products and artisan craftsmanship.
Knitsilk brings that perspective into a global, maker-focused brand.
We want customers to discover the character of Indian silk, understand the material they are working with, and use it to create something uniquely their own.
The Character of Indian Silk
India has a long and diverse relationship with silk.
Different fibres, spinning techniques, yarn constructions, dyeing methods and finishing processes create materials with very different textures, weights, colours and personalities.
At Knitsilk, we celebrate that variety.
Our range can include silk yarns, handspun yarns, recycled silk, sari silk, silk blends, ribbons and other textile materials developed for creative use.
Some products are designed for everyday making. Others are unusual, textured or artisan-focused materials intended to inspire experimentation.
Made with Knowledge, Skill and Hands
Behind every textile material is a combination of fibre knowledge, technical processes and human skill.
Knitsilk's manufacturing heritage includes spinning, dyeing, printing and finishing capabilities, supported by experienced personnel and quality monitoring.
Where appropriate, skilled artisans contribute to the making of yarns and fibres, including hand-spinning and dyeing.
This combination of traditional craftsmanship and practical manufacturing knowledge is central to our identity.

Quality Matters
Silk is a natural material, and its character depends on fibre, yarn construction, processing, dyeing and finishing.
Our manufacturing background gives us practical experience across these stages.
Quality assurance is supported by experienced personnel and process monitoring.
For customers, that means we focus not only on how a product looks, but also on how it behaves as a material.
